My smile!
My smile! I look at photos of myself, and wonder if people see through the mask I've put on for the day. Don't get me wrong, I have a beautiful smile. But that smile comes with a sense of pride, contentment, and enthusiasm, knowing where I've come from, where I could've ended up, and where I plan to be. I have found out that even in the moment of despair, a smile calms the heart. I realize what a gift to calm hearts means to a world full of despair, division, and ugliness. No, I don't have it all together, but I have managed to keep myself from falling apart. Even though there have been times, when I felt like giving up.
A positive mindset one has, tends to radiate through a nice smile even in the presence of difficulty. This approach is how I get my patients or just people in general to see good, even when the situation seems hopeless. A smile can make a day bright for someone who has received frowns all day, either through life issues, at work, or just depressed from things happening around us. A smile can gives approval, positive feedback, and confidence to the one receiving it. So, I make it a point to smile when I interact with others in various settings. Your true colors are shown in the way you greet people, the respect you show them, and compassion of seeing the soul in another comes through simply smiling! Sometimes, I can have a trying day, and feel gloomy, then I remember, when there is life there is always hope; the thought produces a smile.
Merely, smiling doesn't fix all problems. It doesn't mean that everything is peaches and cream either. It simply shows, that your will to keep on caring, loving, and moving forward with your goals, is stronger than the obstacle that seems to be in your way. So, I urge you to smile while working, when interacting with others, be kind in your approach in various situations of life, but don't be a push over! It is absolutely okay to look back at all you've overcome, and simply SMILE.
